Gallbladder stone removal laser surgery

In order to insert thin instruments into the abdominal cavity, the surgeon creates several tiny incisions in your abdomen. Inserted is a tube that emits a soft stream of carbon dioxide gas. This divides the organs beneath the abdominal wall. The surgeon uses a tiny camera attached to the laparoscope to observe the gallbladder on a TV monitor. During the procedure, certain x-rays called cholangiograms can be performed to look for gallstones lodged in the bile ducts. The arteries and ducts that supply the gallbladder are cut off. These clips won't come off. Either laser surgery or electrocautery is used to remove the gallbladder. One of the incisions in the abdomen is used to remove the gallbladder and its burden of gallstones. The carbon dioxide gas and the equipment are taken out of the abdominal cavity. After being sutured, the incisions are covered with dressings.
